      Part of a sentence which doesn’t make sense on it’s own but can add more detail.

      For example: ‘If I can find the shop’

      If I can find the shop’ is just a sentence fragment. This is the subordinate clause for the more complete sentence below.

      ‘If I can find the shop, we can buy the shoes.’ This has real meaning.
